When you really want something and you have to fight… stand your ground

Never give up … never surrender…

don't be a quitter

I would love to remember who said that… (I think it was Churchill) if you know leave it in my comments. I think it’s true. The more you quit in life the less you get. One of the greatest lessons I have learned is that sometimes when you really want something you have to stand your ground and believe me it’s worth the fight.

I recently got my PhD accepted here in Australia. Through the process I learned that I had to persevere when things got rough by holding onto what I believe. I believed it was worth it.  There was a time about 3/4 of the way through when it looked like I wasn’t going to get it. Everything turned against me. I know of several people that when the going gets tough, they will quit. This is where guts and determination make a huge difference. Can I say that most of the people I know who are winners pushed life back when life pushed them? It’s that pushing that gets you through. When you are trying to birth anything there is always a push to get there. The same goes for anything you are fighting for.

What to do when it still goes down and you lose

The key to winning at anything is to first lose something. The passion to fire up when the world is against you comes from the sting of losing.  There is just something that can happen when people push aside the excuses of the past and begin building a better future for tomorrow by changing their attitude.

In the final analysis you have to live with yourself.   As the song says, ‘I thought about cuttin’ out but my heart just won’t buy it.’  There is a time to quit.  But, there are times when you must stand your ground and hold onto what you believe in.  If you don’t, the price for you will be very high indeed.

Watch what you say, take good care of yourself only. Please never think other people are stupid as you are.
